DeVito South Beach is the brainchild of Emmy award-winning actor Danny DeVito (hence the name), South Florida restaurateur heavyweight David Manero (Gotham City, Shore, Sopra), and entrepreneur Michael Brauser. Together they have merged upscale Italian dining with the deco-flash and fame of Miami Beach; a daunting task to say the least. Having opened in October of 2006, DeVito South Beach has marked its territory and set new standards of excellence for the surrounding businesses.
Manero found few obstacles in achieving a perfect fusion of New American and Italian cuisine – especially with Chef Francis Casciato on board and at his disposal. This blends oh so perfectly with the 1940’s retro vibe that carries throughout the restaurants inner workings. The interior of DeVito South Beach effortlessly sports Murano chandeliers which seem to hover amidst the massive 9,000 square foot, 2-story property designed by Manero’s wife, Lynn.
To truly indulge at DeVito South Beach, the 8 Oz. Australian Wagyu Sliced Flat Iron Steak is exactly what you need. Not only is this steak an expensive cut at $48 but it’s also extremely decadent; having come from cows which adhere to a strict diet meant to heighten the marbling of the steak in comparison to its unworthy competitor-cuts. For the modest – and less hungry – take a seat at one of the many outdoor cabanas and enjoy the Cracked Florida Lobster and Crab Cocktail which, at $38, will simultaneously stimulate your taste buds and credit card.
With enough flat screen plasmas to keep the bar fly’s happy and an outdoor, elevator-accessed second floor for intimate gatherings, DeVito South Beach has become a key player in the upscale hotspots of Miami Beach. It takes money to make money and no statement could be more accurate in this case.
