Here’s What Jenna Jameson Eats Every Day on the Keto Diet

Jenna Jameson is opening up about what she eats every day on the keto diet. In response to questions about how she keeps her body in ketosis (when your body burns fat for energy — the whole premise of the ketogenic diet), Jenna Jameson disclosed the details of her meal plan on Instagram. Alongside a before-and-after picture showing off her 60-pound weight loss, she wrote, “I am one of those odd people that doesn’t need a variety. Every morning I eat the exact same thing. Three eggs with cheese and an avocado.”

She went on to say that lunch is her biggest meal. “I always eat arugula salad, grilled asparagus or zucchini with some kind of meat (usually a hamburger patty or grilled chicken),” she told followers.

As for snacks? She reaches for almonds or macadamia nuts and, occasionally, cottage cheese when she feels hungry.

So far it doesn’t sound too bad, right? But here’s where things get a little more intense. The mother of two (who is still breastfeeding her youngest child) said she skips dinner altogether and only drinks water from 6 p.m. onward.

“I drink coffee at 8 a.m., and I end my fast at 11 a.m. That’s it! No magic, no fancy diet … just clean, whole organic foods,” she wrote enthusiastically, adding that she “waved bye bye to anything processed or packaged a long time ago.”

The post has generated more than 18,000 likes and lots of encouragement along with questions, particularly about the fasting part. In response to one follower’s question about experiencing weight-loss stalls on the keto diet, Jameson shared that that’s why she began the intermittent fasting. “It pushed me past my plateau of 135. I’m currently 125,” she wrote.

As for how she sticks to such a strict regimen, she explained to another follower, “I crave things, but that’s when willpower comes into play.” Of course, even willpower has its limits: Jameson revealed that she drinks Fresca when she needs something more than water.

This isn’t the first time she’s copped to her diet-soda habit. In a previous post she’d written, “I get sweet cravings here and there, but I usually push past them by drinking a Fresca.” (So much for waving goodbye to anything processed.)

According to registered dietitian Kristin Koskinen, the cravings for carbs can make it difficult for people to stick to the keto diet.

“Such a restrictive diet may not be sustainable in the long term,” Koskinen told LIVESTRONG.COM, when asked to comment on Jameson’s eating plan.

Another concern? Koskinen pointed out that nursing moms like Jameson burn an additional 300 to 700 calories a day. Depending on her portion sizes and the amount of snacking she’s doing, Jameson may not be consuming enough calories.

Ultimately, Koskinen said that instead of keto, she’d recommend a low-glycemic diet to moms looking to slim down after giving birth. A low-glycemic diet allows for good-for-you carbs (like sweet potatoes, fuits and most legumes), which take longer for your body to digest and help control hunger. Plus, these low-glycemic foods are rich in healthy micronutrients that you could be missing out on with keto, says Koskinen.

You probably won’t lose 60 pounds in four months on this kind of diet, but you also won’t go to bed hungry.
