Who says grandmas can’t have long hair and killer bodies? Actress Jane Seymour may be 66 (yes, really!) and have four children and three grandchildren, but she’s still going strong — and rocking tights and a leotard — in her new ’80s-inspired sitcom, “Let’s Get Physical” on Pop TV.
Seymour admitted to People that she dabbled in aerobics craze during its heyday, but took up another form of exercise long before it became trendy: “I was one of the first to do Pilates back in the day,” she told the magazine. “My Pilates class would be Joan Collins, Natalie Wood and all the Charlie’s Angels.” As in the original “Charlie’s Angels,” airing from ’76 to ’81.
Just four years ago, the five-foot-three former dancer posed in a bikini on the cover of British mag Closer Weekly. “God, I’m in better shape now in some ways than I was when I was doing the Bond film,” she said at the time. (She made her Bond girl debut back in 1973!)
“I don’t do major fasts or work out crazily every day,” she told Closer. Instead, she said she does a combination of Spinning, light weights and Gyrotonics for an hour a day, three days a week. She also stays active playing tennis, golfing, swimming and power walking. No word on whether she can hold a plank as long as this 71-year-old star.
As for Seymour’s diet? “I believe in eating actual foods most of all,” she said in a 2016 interview with Healthy Living Magazine. “I try to eat leafy green vegetables, berries, kale juice, arugula, spinach and get my protein through fish and lean meats like chicken.”
She also said she drinks lots of water and the occasional glass of wine, though she stays away from the hard stuff. Which reminds us of another fit-over-50 actress who gave up booze entirely for the benefit of her body: Sharon Stone. While we may not completely abstain from alcohol just yet, it certainly might not be a bad good idea if we want to pull off a string bikini in our 60s!
